Miles thinks that maybe summer school wouldn't suck so much if it wasn't in Darrow.
Of course, he wouldn't even have to go to summer school in the first place if he hadn't been sucked out of his own dimension in the middle of the school year, but at least it'd all be more bearable if Ganke was around. Or maybe it'd just be more difficult to actually get some studying done, because he has a feeling Ganke would be asking him a million questions about Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy and about that other Spider-Guy who just seems to hate him for no reason.
I really hope I don't run into that guy again tonight. I don't need somebody else telling me that I suck at this right now. I've already got a pretty good idea.
That's what happens when you take a year off, though.
First, he's got an entire chapter full of math problems to solve for tomorrow, and Miles finds himself in the library after school, trying to make sense of pre-calculus that he should have down by now. It definitely doesn't help that he was out late the night before as Spider-Man, and that he's been tired all day.
Or that the library is quiet and cool.
Before he knows it, he's nodding off, and doesn't even realize it until his head tilts forward and slams into the table in front of him with a loud BANG that echoes through the library.

Date: 2014-07-07 09:17 pm (UTC)He comes back from a break in the fiction section with a large pile of literature by Darrow natives, setting them down next to the pile of newspapers that allegedly are from five years ago when he sees the kid at the table next to him totally eat the table out of the corner of his eye. It doesn't look or sound good, and he winces sympathetically, leaning across the gap between tables.
"You okay? That uh, might be a sign to take a break."

Unfortunately, he's not that lucky, and even now, there are a few people casting disapproving glances in his direction. Maybe he should get some sleep tonight instead of checking out that shady place near the boardwalk.
"Sorry. Yeah, maybe," he says, "Late night."

Date: 2014-08-04 02:30 am (UTC)He finally looks over at the guy, and has to hold back a look of surprise when he recognizes him from that first day with his suit. But this guy knows Spider-Man, not Miles, so it's not like he can say anything about it.
"It pretty much sucks."

He makes an 'oops' face, grinning immediately afterward before getting a bit more serious. "Can I help? I mean, I'm sure you've got things under control, but if a second pair of eyes helps, I kind of was awesome at pre-calc."
He took it before life got crazy.
Looking around to make sure that none of the intense librarians are around to shush them, he leans over to offer the kid his hand, coupled with a nod. "I'm Stiles."

Date: 2014-09-08 03:59 am (UTC)"Brooklyn," he replies, and he has to think for a minute to even remember how long it's been since he showed up in Darrow, "back in February."
Holy crap, has it really been that long?

Date: 2014-09-15 10:34 pm (UTC)I almost got killed a couple of times during that whole thing, though.
"I've never been out that way, though."
